Country Bear Good Neighbor Apple Cake (Wendy and Susan)

Ingredients
4 cups apples peeled and thinly sliced
Mixed together:
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Sifted together dry ingredients:
• 1 cup flour (whole wheat is good, but any flour is OK)
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 3/4 tsp baking powder
• 1/4 tsp salt
Combined wet ingredients:
• 1 egg, beaten
• 3 tsp water
• 1/3 cup evaporated milk
• 1/2 cup melted butter, cooled

Directions
Preheat oven to 325oF
Place apples in a 9” round well greased tin.
Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mixture.
Sprinkle walnuts over.
Add wet to dry ingredients all at once.
Mix until smooth.
Pour over apples.
Bake 1 hour or until golden

Comments
This recipe came from a children’s book about how Bear made this cake by borrowing each of the ingredients one by one from his neighbors, and then inviting them to tea.
